Finally got around to ordering this. Challenging in places, but never needlessly obscure. Some archaic spellings slow things down. Recommended with reservations.
I've read excerpts online before, but having the full text is different. Some chapters demand a slow, careful read, and that's exactly the point. It rewards patience more than any book I've bought this year. It assumes more background than a beginner might have. Good, with the caveats above.
I collect works on this subject and this is a worthy addition. The material is presented clearly and the structure makes it easy to revisit key passages. My only regret is not ordering it sooner.
