This edition finally does the material justice. The text itself is dense but rewarding — you get out what you put in. Some chapters demand a slow, careful read, and that's exactly the point. It assumes more background than a beginner might have. Good, with the caveats above.
I keep coming back to this one. It rewards patience more than any book I've bought this year. It reads better in small doses — a chapter at a time with notes. Would buy from this store again.
Honestly wasn't sure what to expect, but I'm impressed. I found myself reading passages aloud just to sit with them. Highly recommend to serious students.
Was skeptical at first. The historical context alone makes it worth the price. Plenty of passages worth underlining; my copy is already full of margin notes. I'd have loved an index, but that's on the original text. Recommended with reservations.
