Bought this as a gift for my sister and ended up ordering a second copy for myself. You can tell why this work has endured. One of my better finds this year.
Honestly wasn't sure what to expect, but I'm impressed. I appreciated how the argument builds steadily from first principles. There's real depth here that reveals itself on a second reading. Highly recommend to serious students.
Honestly wasn't sure what to expect, but I'm impressed. Some chapters demand a slow, careful read, and that's exactly the point. The language takes some getting used to, but it becomes part of the charm. It assumes more background than a beginner might have. Recommended with reservations.
Grabbed this during a weekend order. The historical context alone makes it worth the price. It pairs well with more modern commentaries on the same tradition. My only quibble is the cover feels thinner than expected. Solid, if not essential.
This edition finally does the material justice. The typesetting is comfortable for study, with good margins for notes. I appreciated how the argument builds steadily from first principles. Five stars from me.
A friend in my study group recommended this one. I found myself reading passages aloud just to sit with them. It connects ideas I'd only seen treated separately elsewhere. Will be gifting a copy to a friend.
